The DFG-funded Research Training Group 2771 – Humans and Microbes (RTG 2771) invite scientists from all over the world to join our International Symposium Cell and Structural Biology of Host Pathogen Interaction from 10 – 12 Sept 2025 in Hamburg, Germany.
Humans and Microbes aims to elucidate how human pathogenic bacteria, viruses and parasites utilize, modulate or suppress molecular host-pathogen complexes and membrane trafficking processes in host cells. Using state-of-the-art imaging, biochemical, structural biology and bioinformatics methods, we aim to elucidate the interaction of pathogen and host molecules with the highest spatial and temporal resolution. In cellular infection models, we investigate how these pathogen-host associations reorganize cellular compartments, regulate the production of new infectious particles, dampen the immune response or can be inhibited by pharmacological compounds. We believe that such a fundamental understanding of host-pathogen interactions at the molecular level and its transfer to the next generation of scientists will pave the way for new treatment strategies against bacterial, viral and parasitic infectious diseases.
